I highly recommend the works of Matt Bracken as well.
I’d add his Anthology as well, with a focus on the stories of Dr. X and When The Music Stops.
Didn’t realize Matt was (finally?) going to write another book after Zerhoun. Zerhoun to me was very compelling historical fiction, so to speak. I contributed in a small way as an editor to that storyline early on. He also had a number of working titles and covers early on.
In addition to Matt’s books and short stories, I’d recommend the two that follow:
Day of Wrath by William Forschten (more of a novella than a book). Breathtakingly real fiction. https://www.amazon.com/Day-Wrath-William-R-Forstchen-ebook/dp/B00MU1NNRO
Attack by Kurt Schlichter. Essentially an after-action report of an October 7th style attack within the US. The style reminded me of Red Storm Rising by Clancy. https://www.amazon.com/Attack-Kurt-Schlichter-ebook/dp/B0CR1N7R8T
Matt Bracken’s new book will be titled “Doomsday Reef”. He says it is his last book. It is supposed to be available in 2 or 3 months.
