It would be nice to believe you but the evidence is that sovietology is dying a long slow death.
And that decline is only recently - 2000s-2010s. Seven Phds per year(!). It is all only a tiny fraction of the academic interest in the 80s-90s.
It’s like true Mideast peace. Too many State Dept aholes would lose their jobs.
