I grew up in a leftist community.

My high school and college were filled with leftists.

I didn’t agree with them on anything.

You learn how to cope.

Those of us who grew up with that kind of adversity got tough and skilled at defending our views as needed.

One powerful technique is humor.

True leftists cannot laugh at themselves and have no sense of humor.

Their brains explode when you laugh at them with clever and original humor.

I also learned to do my homework before making a point.

I would not just say “X is true”. I would be able to prove it—often with sources they liked and approved. That is very powerful when you can do that.

100%. Those are skills I had to learn as a woman in the corporate consulting arena. Shoot off your opinion without solid citations if needed, lose a client.
