“no guarantee they can keep it safe.”

No kidding. In the past two weeks, I’ve had four or five letters from MAJOR companies saying “we’ve been hacked and the bad guys have your information.”

Of course, the letters always start with “We take security and protecting your information VERY SERIOUSLY.” But obviously not seriously enough to hire good IT and Security professionals.

It's worse than that. So they get images of my ID supposedly for verification. What in Heaven's name are they going to verify them against? The whole exercise is so loaded with false premises the bureaucrat who dreamed this up should be canned, along with his or her immediate superiors.

I believe there are far too many networks connected to the internet that don’t really need to be.
