I didn't take it personally. I understand your frustration. I want the bad eggs gone as badly as you do. There is a significant percentage who are just trying to escape their current hell hole. I understand that. Both sides of my family have been here since before 1645. We were the original Eurotrash, thrown out before the rush. The only good thing was that land prices were low when they got here.
Those who self-deport and apply from their home countries are certainly worth a look.
We don't need them today. We will in 10 to 15 years. Things like this don't happen over night. In the next 20 years we will need to roughly double our manufacturing capacity to build the things we want and need because the rest of the world will be in no shape to do it for us. We will also need to double our electrical generation and transmission capacity and this is assuming the Warm-mongers plans are NOT implemented.
I am not adverse to having a discussion as to what the standards should be. I think we should, but that is a political question and should be decided by our elected representatives. If we don't like what they do, we get the chance to throw the bassturds out at the next election.
I do not think the Democrats will hold either the House, the Senate, or the White House after this November's election.

Although I’ve only commented on the first two paragraphs of your OP, I found your ideas in their entirety, to be compassionate and fair to those who seek to gain entry into this great country and for those lucky enough to have been born here as citizens (not speaking of anchor babies)
Your comments on legal entry remind me of the old days of Ellis Island, and I can not disagree with any of it.
Wish I had the time to comment further, but wanted to let you know I’m not a total nut.
