I noticed that rodent repellent gap-filling spray foam is now available... How long the effect lasts I don’t know.
Older houses can be really hard to totally keep sealed up... Young mice can get in amazingly small cracks, gaps, etc.

we get them about 3x a year....they get in thru the basement somehow.....pretty easy to catch but I hate them...
our food pantry is down in the basement which is why everything is in a glass jar with a metal lid or heavy duty 5 gallon buckets....even upstairs here, we try not to have anything out on the counter and use lots of containers.
