On this issue, I side with you. Good insights.
One thing I wanted to mention, people just don’t realize the size and strength of the U.S. Navy. From other country’s perspective it’s overwhelming.
The USA will never be invaded. Our Navy will never be challenged. They’ll simply use an EMP or three on our country.

1) Whichever country did this would instantly become the world's largest parking lot. They can paint the lines however they want after they rediscover fire and the wheel.
If you think Pearl Harbor pissed off Americans, that would be considered a minor annoyance when compared with an EMP attack on the homeland.
2) Untold millions would starve around the world from the sudden stop of food exports from the US and Canada. Even more with the drop in shipping from South America.
Nations hit hardest would include, in no particular order, Japan, China, South Korea (the north doesn't have any food anyway), India, all of the middle east with the exception of Turkey, North Africa, and, oddly, Russia.
