For those who have no idea what is going on here, don't worry. If MOD decides to share here, I will post my response.

ransomnote: I used an email to you this time because I was including a pile of speculation that I didn not want to derail the thread. I  don't think I've ever seen you derailed by content of any kind, ever, and you have all that military stuff in your head so you were my target of choice. ThankQ for the highly informative response in your email. I'll put most of your email below, leaving out my speculative content, because I found it so useful in its application to the fighting in Ukraine, Gulf War One, Iraq, and I really appreciated your statement of resolve regarding your willingness to personally sacrifice for freedom, again.

sidenote: Here are two of my posts which explain why I remain confident Nothing Can Stop Whats Coming and that we've already won - 1,862 and 1843.

And here's your content from the email response which includes some details I never knew re those prior wars. I'll add that your email reminded me of Victor David Hanson's article about one of the Black Hawk's shot down (Mogidishu) which also addressed the stunning disparity of training and how our warriors can 'bring it' with no warning.

____LONE PALM'S EMAIL EXCERPT_____

There is FAR more to making a military than numbers and equipment.

When we give an order to “go there and do that” it is with the knowledge and expectation that the people we send are capable of going there and doing that against another military trained to OUR standards.

Were you amazed at just how fast the world’s 4th largest, and supposedly ‘battle hardened’ army was gutted and filleted during the 1st Gulf war? A US Army Captain named H. R. McMasters leading a single troop of armored cavalry dismantled half of the of the 18th Brigade of Iraqi Republican Guards Tawakalna Division in 23 minutes without losing a single man. The rest of the 2 Armored Cavalry Regiment completed the destruction of the best division in the Iraqi Army with a loss of only six men.

How about when the mighty Russian Army rolled into Ukraine in what should have been a week long offensive and then suddenly stalled? The armored thrust on Kyiv that would have toppled the Ukrainian government suddenly stopped because someone forgot to bring fuel. Three days later the tankers started walking back to Belarus because someone else forgot to bring food. In a double stroke of incompetence the Russians doubled the number of tanks and AFVs in the Ukrainian army. The fight with Ukraine has hollowed out an already hollow force.

Not everyone builds equipment and trains to our standards. When other countries claim that their equipment will do this, that, or the other Gee Whiz thing do we scoff? No, we take them at their word and design something better that will beat it. We then train with that something better so we can use it to the best of its ability to perform. And then, when we go through them cleaner than a Katana through a rolled tatami mat, non-military people are surprised.

As long, nasty, and seemingly pointless as the twenty year war on terror was it did accomplish two things. One, there were no more attacks on the US by people who desperately want to attack us here. And, two, it gave us the largest pool of battle experienced military people on the planet with the best equipment we can give them.

I do NOT refer just to the active duty military, reserves, and National Guard. There are several million veterans that could be called upon were the nation truly in peril. Forget the military, even if half of these veterans simply brought their small arms and ammunition from home, how long do you think (ransomnote: our enemies foreign and domestic) would last? Do you think that the Black Hats could summon even the tiniest fraction of the number of veterans who would come if called? I don’t. I’m not sure just how untenable their position is to most of the Black Hats. I’m sure it has occurred to some of them but they’re trapped with the other BHs.

I’m an old man. I hope to become a really old man. I wouldn’t be more than a moment’s distraction the Black Hats in a stand up fight. What makes you think that I would ever give them a stand up fight? As I reminded my kids when they were growing up, age and treachery will beat youth and ability every single time.

Do I KNOW that the White Hat veterans will show up? I don’t. I know I will be there and that is sufficient. Thomas Jefferson wrote, “The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots and tyrants.” If that is to be my lot, so be it. I hope not. I served with a band of Brothers far better than me. From what I have seen of those who followed me, I will not be the only one answering the call should it come.

ransomnote: I pick up another detail or two each time I read your email. This time I hovered over your question, "Do you think that the Black Hats could summon even the tiniest fraction of the number of veterans who would come if called? " I never thought of it before. Now that it's on my mind, I'll reply, "No, with Kerry 'busy' and NoName dead, their number has significantly reduced. But there's still Muller and a few like him."

ThankQ for generously spending time responding to my email with interesting info. And, thankQ for your (continued) service.
