The way it works is a letter stands for another letter. For example: AXYDLBAAXR is LONGFELLOW (does not apply to today's cryptogram).
Beware, the game is very addictive. If this is your first time, don't be intimidated, you’ll be solving them all within a few days. If you’re stumped, take a break and return to it.
PLEASE DO NOT post the answer in general comments, but DO post your time and how you made out.
You can certainly send your solution to my private reply, or if you need a hint for today’s Cryptogram ASK THE GROUP FOR HELP!
I suggest printing these out and work them on paper. If you need a little help you can copy and paste it to Hal’s Helper below.
You can then work on the puzzle without using pen and paper, but I recommend that you do NOT look at the letter counter.

One last request. Feel free to post a fun or clever clue, the more tangential to the quotation the better, but please don’t put the actual words of the quote in the clue.
If you need a clue ask the group to send you a letter to your private reply.

Got it
Ignorance is bliss.
Your post is as good as it was inevitable. I hope you are part of the happy majority.
Blissfully in Group 1!
I just wanted to be the first, since everyone will think of it. And, no, I must suffer in the minority.
Ignorance of trivial obsessions. The author goes on to point out that the topic is a 19th Century pedantic affectation, having absolutely nothing to do with good grammar, syntax, or style.
Where would we be without our pedants?
Don’t leave any of your participle thingies dangling.
I solved it quickly but it took forever to think of an appropriate post !!!
Those who know, know !
Albert Einstein told Arnold Sommerfeld that the anomaly in the precession of the orbit of Mercury gave him a whole new appreciation of “the pedantic precision of astronomy that I secretly used to make fun of in the past.” The precession of the orbit of Mercury is one of the three classical tests of the General Theory of Relativity (1914). (As opposed to the Special Theory (1905)).
Today’s author agrees. See my post #10.
[[“the pedantic precision of astronomy that I secretly used to make fun of in the past.” The precession of the orbit of Mercury is one of the three classical tests of the General Theory of Relativity (1914).]]
Wow - that would make a great cryptogram next week !
I was thinking something a little more approachable, like “The characteristic response of a neutral plasma to an incident plane wave...”, or “pH is the negative of the common logarithm of the concentration of hydronium ions, expressed in gram equivalents.” Wadda ya think? We kin git a little lurnun dun round hereabouts?
