They wanted a name from the Roman gods (like Mercury, Venus, Mars, Jupiter and Saturn). They could have gone with Cronus.

At this point it's probably too late to change the name of the planet but maybe they could spell the name Uranos or Ouranos.

When I took an astronomy class the professor pronounced the name with the accent on the first syllable and the "a" as a short "a." Of course then it sounds too much like "urine."

There is no good way to pronounce that name, lol. They should have gone with Cronus.
