An off-duty cop has been shot dead over $83.45 worth of stolen beer when he confronted three suspects robbing a convenience store.
Sergeant Philip Dale Nix saw the trio shoplifting from a Sheetz on Sandy Ridge Road in Greensboro, North Carolina, on Saturday.
He was allegedly gunned down by Jamere Justice Foster, 18, and died in hospital despite the efforts of a second off-duty policeman and a paramedic.
'He was a loving husband, father, son and brother with 22 years of service to the department and this community,' Greensboro Police Chief John Thompson said.
'We ask for prayers for the family of the fallen officer and our Greensboro PD family.'
Foster was charged with felony first-degree murder, misdemeanor larceny and conspiracy.
John Walter Morrison, 28, was charged with misdemeanor larceny, conspiracy and felony accessory after the fact to first-degree murder.
Both are held without bail.
Zquriah Lepearce Blackwell, 18, was charged with felony accessory after the fact to first-degree murder and was held on a $500,000 bond.
A warrant for her arrested accused her of helping Foster escape after he allegedly shot Nix, and encouraging him to dispose of the gun and getaway car's license plate.

“Always at least one with the dead tarantula on their head”
GOOD ONE! LOL funny!
“It can be confusing for some, many those who are quick to level those claims do what they can to avoid members of that very high per capita crime rate community.”
Absolutely, it’s like the self anointed, holier-than-thou “sanctuary cities”. When they actually have to put out and live up to their label, they want nothing of it!
Virtue signaling hypocrites to the max!
No joke - I had a black female student whose name was spelled Chairman. Her baby mama was going for Charmain, but spelling wasn’t the mama’s strong suit. The student said it was too much hassle to get it legally changed, so her name remains Chairman!
Zquriah
Wonder how that’s even pronounced.
Couldn’t the media find any cap and gown photos?
Its only considered racist and prejudiced by SOME people who are living in their own pseudo-realities.
I don’t participate in that garbage.
Why didn’t he call for backup is what I wonder.
“Couldn’t the media find any cap and gown photos?”
Yes always when they graduated Kindergarten or Grade School (8th Grade) That is when they will still somewhat innocent.
How in hell did the third murderer come up with the name John? Surprises daily.
“How does one even pronounce “Z’quriah”?”
Common pronunciation and spelling, as you’d expect.
I see a trend.

Tragic about the officer. I hope that his DIE training didn’t prompt his death (failure to be prepared that they were armed).
“”””The children of Obeyme.””””
Is Obeyme the same person as “Bareback Obama”?
Yes, he is.
yeah, their only graduations...
Oh,no. Not negro yout agin. I ax you why aren’t there things for them to do....like midnight basketball?
Proven right 87% of the time.
How did “John” get in there with the likes of “Jamere” and “Zquriah”? Does not seem to go with the others.
Yep, somebody goofed and gave him a white boy name.
“No joke - I had a black female student whose name was spelled Chairman. Her baby mama was going for Charmain, but spelling wasn’t the mama’s strong suit. The student said it was too much hassle to get it legally changed, so her name remains Chairman!”
Do you mean Charmain as in “Don’t squeeze the Charmain” and Mr Whipple?
Where I live the great majority of black Americans I meet are among the finest of people. And, many of these black feral youth may have had their minds poisoned by 'whitey' teachers.
It's tempting to generalize based on race, but it only makes the problem worse. I suggest we just call them "cop killers" and give them a swift trial, followed by a swift execution.
