"If there was a free, public domain audio book written by Joseph McCarthy, would you be interested in listening to it?"
Just as the question states. Senator Joseph McCarthy wrote several books, what if one or many of them were recorded as open source public domain audio books and given away for/to everybody? Would you be interested in listening and learning from them?
Would you share it with others? I'm just curious what people say to this.
Why not? He was correct.
Why not just read what he wrote?
LOL
I’m just finishing Bombshell by Joseph Albright on how the Russian Communist spies stole our A Bomb secrets so I say bring back the Mccarthy era, now.
Having read Blacklisted By History, yes. Every single American citizen should read that book. One of the most important books ever written.
Reading is not even close to being good enough. We need convenience. Convenience, convenience, convenience. We need to share information without hitting our pocket books.
I want to give 100 people a dozen books each. I want you to do the same. Do you know how much money that is? It should not cost us a penny to spread the blessings of liberty.
If enough people were reading the information they should be reading, then it would’ve worked already. It is clear that this has failed. It’s time to acknowledge the failure and it is time to move on to bigger and better things.
If just reading were enough, we wouldn’t have The 1619 Project.
Audiobook?
I’d rather they be reprinted, or released as an e-book.
I checked out of the library the Audio Files of Harry S. Truman, in his own words. I learned a lot. I think he was a great President. He grabbed the goblet of Stalin and tasted to see what Stalin was drinking, WATER, and in the goblet of Truman the waiters were putting TEQUILA.
Since it was Russians, it was more likely to be vodka.
It could be true, but Harry did like to tell (make up?) stories, so I wouldn’t be too sure if this one was for real.
Audiobooks for me. I’ve always been a big reader, but I don’t have time now. Pretty much the only time I have for reading now is before bed, and I don’t get far before I fall asleep. I listen to a couple of audiobooks a week. I can listen while driving, doing yard work or housework, or mindless office tasks. [I use Hoopla which many public libraries are tied into. It allows you to borrow (free) 8 audiobooks, ebooks, cds or movies a month.)
Why not? Right or wrong, he was consequential. I’d listen to an audio by Hitler, Mao Tse Tong, Stalin or Pol Pot for the same reasons that I’d listen to an audio by Winston Churchill, MK Gandhi or Ronald Reagan. All consequential, without exception.
America's Retreat from Victory: The Story of George Catlett Marshall (New York: Devin Adair, 1951) is available for free at the Internet Archive.
McCarthyism, the Fight for America{ Documented Answers to Questions Asked by Friend and Foe (New York: Devin Adair, 1952) is a quarto-sized paperback consisting of questions and answers. You can read the e-book version for free here or here.
They were drinking tequila at Potsdam in 1945? I would think they would drink vodka or schnapps.
I look at them (use of time and convenience) distinctly, but thank you for the clarification, it’s good.
Yes, Librivox books can be of varying quality and unfortunately, that’s going to have to be the case for some until all of the ones we need can be created as solo works.
Hopefully we can fill your daily drives with better and/or more useful information.

As to reprinting or creating an e-book, either (or both) of those you could do on your own. I could offer some guidance if you wish. Making an EPUB is not really that difficult.
I recently spoke with a self-publisher around here who might be able to offer better advice about the publishing(distribution?) aspect.
I like it, both do have value, but both ideas do not really make much of a radical change to what currently exists today.
Let me know if you want to begin.
