Guys like him are so inured to the realities of life that don’t learn until they are dragged off and never seen again.
I don’t believe they “learn” from anything save the reality of being forced to live with the mindsearing pain of something more important. There is no deeper pain than what the parents felt as they watched the butchery of their children. It never ends for them as long they are beathing.
