Here is a pretty good summary of the events surrounding the Partition Plan. There was never going to be any semblance of Peace with such disparate forces in play in 1947/1948 and to this day, so it sucks to be a Palestinian and it sucks to be an Israeli who is being used and abused to advance the Zionist cause whether they like it or not.
