Hail all these heroes, thank you from a formerly free country. I was Chicken Doodie and joined the Coast Guard at 17 years of age, before my first date or anything. Now all my friends at the gun club are in their seventies and eighties, and almost all of them went to ‘Nam’. Much respect to all who served in SE Asia.
Thank you.
AMEN to that and thank you to you and all of those on this forum who served for your service.
We had about the same time of service. I went in the fall of
‘63 and was discharged in the fall of ‘65. Basic training at
Ft Polk and served my active duty in the Armed Forces Police
Detachment in NYC.
No hero here. I was a very reluctant soldier. Served in the Signal Corps with a bunch of other college drop-outs who signed up to avoid the draft. How was I to know that the course I signed up for was nicknamed "rice-paddy microwave"?
