And on this day in history, Dec. 25, 1941, crooner Bing Crosby performed "White Christmas" for the first time.
The great songwriter Irving Berlin — considered the most prolific songwriter of the 20th century — crafted the classic song. Crosby performed the song on NBC’s "Kraft Music Hall" radio show for which he was the master of ceremonies, according to Britannica.

My son played in a local theater version of the play “White Christmas”. Saw it on December 9, and it was a great way to start out the Christmas season.
Last night my wife and I watched Holiday Inn in which the theme song was White Christmas.
“I think that’s one of the reasons why people keep responding to it, because our feelings over the holiday season are ambivalent,” she said to NPR.
Nonsense. They respond because its a beautifully crafted song.
We had just entered the dark days of WW2. reeling from Pearl Harbor and in a very dark time. Here comes White Christmas to soothe and encourage. And people loved and connected with it.
They still do which is why it is so popular still.
For me, Christmas isn’t official until I hear White Christmas by Bing. And, of course, watching White Christmas and Holiday Inn.
Did you get the PC version that cuts the Lincoln’s Birthday song?
Nope. We have an older version which includes the Lincoln Birthday.
