Cheers to the aircrew for making the right decision and kudos to the parachute riggers for doing their job, as well... they should!
Airborne and rigger tradition calls for the individuals who are saved by a parachute deployment to buy a bottle of good Scotch for the rigger that packed their chute.
It’s also well known, that the pilots have to do the right thing in ejecting in the first place, or else they might not be around to participate in said time-honored tradition.
Riggers are humbled by the tradition as they are in large part just doing their job and expect no recognition for things working as they should but as beneficiaries of good Scotch, they are willing to carry on traditions worth carrying on.

Bless riggers/packers/and deck crewmen of every sort. Glad I never had to bail out of anything. Your story is reminding me of an “incident” from the 60’s: Private pilot with his own plane bought a surplus parachute and sat on it in his own plane for a decade or more. One day it occurred to him he ought to have it checked and re-packed. When he un zipped I there was nothing but a bundle of newspapers in it. Gives one a spectacular sort of image.
