As a child, the thing I found most startling about attending majority-black public schools was the fact that most of my fellow students had no idea what a “Jew” is. To them, I was just a white kid. A few of my schoolmates who had churchgoing parents had heard terms like “Hebrews” and “Israelites,” but there was little understanding of how those words applied to living people in the modern world.

I recall one black classmate telling me she’d finally “figured out” what this Jew thing is all about: “You guys just wear the cross, but without the little man on it, because you don’t think Jesus is the savior. But we Christians wear the little man because we believe in him.”

If she did, she's right.
'Jew' is not a race, it's a nationality or religion, depending on context.
'Soviet' is a nationality.
'Polish' is a nationality.
'Disabled' is a physical/mental description.
Gypsy/Romani is an ethnicity, so that'd be the closest thing to making the Holocaust a racial issue. Although they were such a small portion of the total deaths, even if we did count 'ethnicity' as 'race', it wouldn't be significant enough to legitimately call the Holocaust 'racism'.
And so on for the rest of the victim groups.

That’s not true. Jewish is definitely an ethnic group. They would be as much as an ethnicity as the Romani. There are whole diseases that target their DNA that most other peoples rarely get.
