So, IOW, if you backslide and happen to die then, tough luck for you, eh?

That absolves me of some hidden guilt. I do know some sadistic pastors and priests adorned on fine purples that dish out the blessings of pain for others and first account or a spider bite run for the hydromorphine

So what do you do with these verses?

2 Corinthians 1:21-22 And it is God who establishes us with you in Christ, and has anointed us, and who has also put his seal on us and given us his Spirit in our hearts as a guarantee.

Ephesians 1:13-14 In him you also, when you heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation, and believed in him, were sealed with the promised Holy Spirit, who is the guarantee of our inheritance until we acquire possession of it, to the praise of his glory.

Ephesians 4:30 And do not grieve the Holy Spirit of God, by whom you were sealed for the day of redemption.

Colossians 2:13-14 And you, who were dead in your trespasses and the uncircumcision of your flesh, God made alive together with him, having forgiven us all our trespasses, by canceling the record of debt that stood against us with its legal demands. This he set aside, nailing it to the cross.

1 Peter 1:3-5 Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ! According to his great mercy, he has caused us to be born again to a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead, to an inheritance that is imperishable, undefiled, and unfading, kept in heaven for you, who by God’s power are being guarded through faith for a salvation ready to be revealed in the last time.

If God Himself is the one who seals us, cancels the record of sin debt that stands against us, and keeps us, then how does a Christian end up in hell?

So, IOW, if you backslide and happen to die then, tough luck for you, eh?

I choose my words rather carefully, unlike your rather careless dismissal of them. Seeing as backsliding is a matter of degrees, and must be judged in the light of accountability, and to be less close right now then you were at some point in the past means we are backslidden, then words of men defined falling from grace as, "willfully impenitently - despite warnings and chastisement - departing from the faith once held," making Christ of no effect, to no profit, drawing back to perdition, thus forfeiting what faith appropriated, which is what believers, as believers, are warned against. (Gal. 5:1-5; Heb. 3:12; 10:25-39)

Not because once again we are dealing with a besetting sin to our grief, or do not even know half the sins we committed. Again, it is faith that saves, being imputed for righteousness, and not because we perfectly achieved the latter (which Purgatory would not enable anyway. But as with our "father in faith, Abraham, faith in the Lord Jesus means, as I described, characteristically following the Him, and confessing sin with effectual repentance when convicted by conscience of doing or being the opposite. (Psalms 32:5, 6; 51:3; Hosea 5:15; 1 John 1:9)

And thus "we are judged, we are chastened of the Lord, that we should not be condemned with the world" (1 Corinthians 11:32) by dying impenitent.

So what do you do with these verses?

Simple. You examine what they actually say - and what they do not - and in context, as well as in the light of other relevant texts. Which, doing so to the texts I supplied, only confirms what I overall taught, by the grace of God.

All of which is True, thanks be to God! But the premise here as regards support for OSAS is that a seal represents permanent status of the seal, that it is unbreakable and permanent; that this seal, obtained by God-given faith by those who are drawn by God, (Jn. 6:44; 12:32) whose hearts He opened, (Acts Acts 6:146:14) and granted repentance to, (Acts 11:18) cannot be forfeited by the recipients even though they can grieve the Spirit, and are warned of making Christ of no effect, to no profit, etc.

However, circumcision was also a seal, (Rom. 4:11) but which only profited them who kept the covenant that it represented, (Romans 2:25) and we know that this seal did not profit them who lived and died as breakers of that covenant, Rom. 11-1-23) after having impenitently "grieved” His Holy Spirit in their rebellion (Isaiah 63:10).

And the same Greek word translated "seal" (sphragizo) also refers to the seal of Christ's tomb, (Matthew 27:66) which, thank God, was broken.

And of course, the seals which the Lord Jesus also breaks. inRev_5:1-2; Rev_5:5; Rev_5:9; Rev_6:1. Thus the premise that seals cannot be broken is simply invalid.

In addition, if this was true, then you have a clear contradiction, for Scripture clearly excludes persons such as fornicators from salvation. (Eph 5:5-7) Thus the OSAS version would have to read something like "For this ye know, that no Non-Christian whoremonger, nor unclean person, nor covetous man, who is an idolater, hath any inheritance in the kingdom of Christ and of God." Or, the OSAS position must be that such were never truly saved, for many fruitful converts have fallen away (Galatians 5:7) and died as adulterers, etc. Which makes a mockery of Christian fellowship since no one can really affirm members as saved, and know who is a "brother."

Thus the OSAS position are on the horns of a dilemma, either affirming all as brethren who once evidenced conversion by effectual faith yet fell away and died as unbelievers, or on one hand holding that even fruitful members of enduring faith were never truly brethren, since they terminally fell away. There are more than are reported (for such often are not) unlike Ravi Zacharias and some megachurch prosperity pastors.

13And you, being dead in your sins and the uncircumcision of your flesh, hath he quickened together with him, having forgiven you all trespasses; 14Blotting out the handwriting of ordinances that was against us, which was contrary to us, and took it out of the way, nailing it to his cross; And you, who were dead in your trespasses and the uncircumcision of your flesh, God made alive together with him, having forgiven us all our trespasses, by canceling the record of debt that stood against us with its legal demands. This he set aside, nailing it to the cross. Colossians 2:13-14

Which simply affirms "the remission of sins that are past" versus those who by falling away, "hath counted the blood of the covenant, wherewith he was sanctified, an unholy thing, and hath done despite unto the Spirit of grace." (Hebrews 10:29)

Another blessed promise, "guarded through faith, which only confirms the multitude warnings against an "evil heart of unbelief in departing from living God," from the faith they once held, falling from grace, making Christ of no effect, to no profit, drawing back to perdition," yielding to pressure to deny the faith after conversion so that Paul's labor would be in vain, (25. Gal. 5:1-5; Heb. 3:12014; 10:25-31, 38-39; 1 Thessalonians 3:5) And thus Christians are exhorted to "hold fast the confidence and the rejoicing of the hope firm unto the end." (Hebrews 3:6

He that hath an ear, let him hear what the Spirit saith unto the churches; He that overcometh [whatever test they face would ultimately make them fall away] shall not be hurt of the second death. (Revelation 2:11)

Thanks be to God that God plays for keeps, and thus,

When we are judged, we are chastened of the Lord, that we should not be condemned with the world. (1 Corinthians 11:32)
Even though I long to fly like an eagle now.

Willful repudiation is different from falling into sin from what I can see.

Willful repudiation is different from falling into sin from what I can see.

It is different, but again, saving/justifying faith is in the Lord Jesus, and thus a believer repents when convicted of sin (not ignorant of it), which I must do often, and resisting that is presuming upon God's (who is patient) grace. "Wherefore (as the Holy Ghost saith, To day if ye will hear his voice, Harden not your hearts, as in the provocation, in the day of temptation in the wilderness" (Hebrews 3:7-8) and died outside the promised land.

Thus, while Jesus comforted the afflicted, he afflicted the complacent. A false concept of faith fosters the latter.
