I find it interesting and if some of what I write sounds like propaganda to you, it is simply the outrage I feel that another Russian dictator has invaded another country and has soldiers who are torturing, raping, and killing the local citizens.
My outrage is motivated by the pure horror of finding out as a child of perhaps 8 or 9 that two of my mother’s aunts had killed themselves in Berlin in 1945. I overheard my mother and another aunt talking when they did not know I could hear what I couldn’t really understand at that age. I could tell they were very upset and sad, but did not think I could ask anything.
As an adult my mother told me they had commited suicide when the Russians entered Berlin in 1945. THey were elderly retired maiden ladies. One was a Dentist, the other a Gynechologist who must have been hearing just how badly Russians were treating women in Berlin, especially if they were “intellectuals” with a college education. So maybe what you hear as propaganda, is what I present as horror that once again Russians are committing outrages in other lands. [Also, it is hard to equate what ordinary Russians must have felt given German activity in Russia, with the even more justified Ukrainian anger at what Russia is doing in Ukraine when Ukraine had not even invaded Russia.] Unfortunately both Russians and Germans ended up or are ending up suffering for the ruthless desires of their dictators for dominating other countries and territories.
When will it stop this time??? And how will it be stopped if we who feel the insanity most deeply do not do our best to send the message—stop killing Ukrainians and your own soldiers, go home now!!!
