Barry Lyndon was a masterpiece. It is a movie that could nor be made today. It is long but the character development is remarkable. It is Perhaps Kubrick’s finest.

Barry Lyndon—sounds like a movie about the presidential election of 1964.

Agreed. Barry Lyndon is a masterpiece and a work of art. Interesting fact: Kubrick shot all of his interior scenes using either natural light or special candles that he jad made for the shots. They burned so fast that each shot had to be one take. He talked NASA into letting him use special lenses which he modified to use for those interior shots. Kubrick’s finest, imho.

I am a huge Kubrick fan. But I was always reluctant to watch Barry Lyndon. (Contrary to what you might think, it is not about the 1964 presidential race.)

Anyway, I did watch it, and it is, in my opinion, Kubrick's best film. O'Neal, again in my opinion, is not a great actor, but Kubrick was able to utilize his pretty-boy blank stares to tremendous effect. No one makes movies like that anymore. I mean, no super hero alter-egos. Who would go see it?
