I had to have some knee surgery in March of ‘22 & one of the things you have to do (or not) is sign off that if something happens & you need a blood transfusion, you authorize it. It hit me at that moment, pen in hand, that there was no choice as to what blood I would be getting (I am not jabbed) & it was a ‘sick’ feeling. I signed - at that time, being prepped for the surgery, I didn’t feel like I had a choice. Fortunately, the kneecap repair went well & I didn’t need extra blood ... but it surely made me ‘think’ about the situation & if I ever needed blood in the future.

Did you know this too? Let’s suppose you have a friend or family member who has the same blood type as you do.

If I’m not mistaken, the hospitals, Red Cross, and other health organizations will REFUSE to use their donated blood on you. Even if you offer to sign a full waiver of liability, etc...

The friend or family member can donate blood, yes - for sure - but it won’t go to you. Instead, some stranger’s blood will be used. (This is in stark contrast to instances of “on the hoof” or “direct” blood transfusions in World War II. https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC4065715/)

This makes no sense to me.
