I'll never get it, my mother loved them, and they are being sold on market shelves today.

The banana flavor of circus peanuts was an approximation of a banana that went extinct.

I’ve visited the boyhood home of Calvin Coolidge in Vermont. It’s a working dairy and they serve real American cheese. It’s white, crumbly and sharper than just about any cheddar.

As a kid, I had a special contempt for people who would hand out circus peanuts as Halloween candy.

Oh, so awful! As a candy addict, there are very few I don’t love, but circus peanuts — ew! Flavored with banana oil!

In view that we grow our own varieties, I think traditional steamed corn on the cob qualifies—corn, butter and salt. They really don't eat it that way in Europe. Italians call it "horse food" scornfully.

Also, pumpkin pie and pecan pie are quite American. And ice cream was first sold in cones at the St Louis World's Fair in 1904. A vendor rolled waffle cookies up to make the first ice cream cones.

I’ve always liked Easy Cheese (often miscalled Cheez Whiz), but I haven’t been able to find the bacon-flavored kind for years.

Miracle Whip should be on the list of Toxic Waste That Some Crazy People Eat, whenever you get around to posting that.

I am going to have to add oysters Rockefeller to the list. In fact, I just finished off some nice homemade ones and can attest to their goodness.

Times have changed where when I grew up there was still regional food. As a northerner, never had good bbq, grits, and especially biscuits and gravy. I went nuts over them the first time I ate them and eat them today.
