The building was old and mostly tired and benign-looking on the inside, with trophy cases filled with odd little masonic trinkets and articles with their symbols. I said prayers after getting out of the car each day in order to don my armour for spiritual strength and protection before entering the building. I know there was evil in that place because I’m afraid of spiders and it had these creepy and unusually large 1.5 inch black spiders that were running around freely while we were playing.
Spiders usually like to hide from people, but not these ones. It felt like they were sent specifically to unnerve me. They must have been living and breeding there unmolested for years judging by their size and willingness to be among people. I was the only one who seemed to mind and I stomped on the one that dared to come near me. I’d been sorting my cards when I caught a glimpse of a large creature running on the carpet to my left. I jumped out of my chair but it took me two good stomps to murder him. He was moving and I was wearing high heels, so my foot surface was even smaller than usual, and he was much bigger than usual. I felt like I yelled “Deus vult!”, but I was assured I was silent, so I must have just screamed it in my head. I hope they move the playing site next year.
