That's a darn shame. However, sprouting a seed is tough. I found it to be about 1 in 10 seeds that sprouted. I started my trees in a quart yogurt container, moved to a 3 gallon container for a year, then into the sand.
Oh, I get ‘em to sprout. But they all seem to die when about 18” tall.
Some seeds sprout better when they are scored. Use a scalpel or small knife blade to score the side of the seed. This works well with morning glory seeds which have a hard casing. I also have good luck sprouting seeds in a wet paper towel wrapped in plastic wrap. Spread the seeds out and check every few days.
