Years before covid, during one bad flu time, a friend in Brazil got very sick, husband away, lived very rural. I asked if she had any citrus growing nearby. She had many lime trees. I told her to do exactly that. She made the brew, drank it, and recovered quickly. I didn’t know anything about hydroxyetc but knew that citrus essential oils have the potency to kill viruses and bacteria. And it’s a medicine that tastes good when you add sweetener.
Regarding citrus peels now - I think there was posted an article recnetly about some horrid stuff called “Apeel” which is connected (of course) with Bill Gates-of-Hell, a petro-chemical brew that fruits and maybe smooth vegetables are or will be dunked in to “keep them fresh”. I meant to look into this more. I have noticed lately that citrus that I buy feels greasy and weird. I normally save finely minced peels for flavoring foods. I don’t any more, until I find out what’s going on. I think the best bet would be to thoroughly wash with detergent and very warm water, and scrub vigorously with a brush, before cutting up and using.

We always have lemon and lime, although we throughly wash (with soap) every fruit or vegetables that we buy, I heard Gates was bragging that apeel could not be washed off? Guess we better find out before ingesting any.

Apeel is used lots on apples.
I don’t put any citrus peel in the compost unless it came from my garden.
