“People and animals didn’t live as long after the flood because of much lower atmospheric oxygen and higher radiation levels as the result of the loss of the earth’s firmament.”

Could you please explain in modern terms what this “firmament” was that apparently resulted in much lower atmospheric oxygen and higher radiation levels? The supervolcano that exploded in the ocean last year has apparently affected some parts of the ozone layer, but that was not a flood like NOah had.

Dr V’s view was that the lower oxygen level was the permanent and resulted from a massive flood of hydrogen, which combined with the formerly higher oxygen level in Earth’s atmosphere, producing The Deluge, which is what the “flood” story in the OT actually describes. He cited rabbinical sources which noted that after The Deluge, the survivors could not light fires, among other things.
