If the guy wants to sell out what’s the problem? If hall wants to come up with the money and buy him out fine. The question is what did the contractor a partnership agreement sale in that? If Hall head right of first refusal it, and it was offered to him and he didn’t want to, but then I assume that the clause would let oates sell out to another party at whatever price he could get for it he probably wants to cash out and reinvest the money for his family, so what’s the problem? Probably has more to do with estate planning than it does anything else as far as personalities go. Hall, evidently is taking this personally for some reason, and he’s willing to find his lawyers to the point of idiocy.
I’m reading between the lines here. Since they parted ways, Daryl has continued to advance his career and has had some resurgence through platforms such as ‘Daryl ‘s House’ and touring with Todd Rundgren. My guess is that they had a verbal agreement formed over many years with a tight partnership and a very successful run. Daryl, wanting to keep his career alive needs the unfettered access to the H&Os library. Perhaps John had said he’d keep holding those rights to give Daryl the room to continue. Once John has decided to sell, it puts Daryl’s access to the library in jeapordy, something John may have said he’d never do. But,, when the money dries up, you gotta cash in the assets and it must be call time for John. Daryl is likely hurt and hoping he can draw it out a little to maybe find another option.
