From an amillennial standpoint, the standard position among Catholics and the conservatives in Reformed, Lutheran, and Campbellite Protestant denominations, active participation in improving the world is secondary only to spreading the Gospel. That is especially true with postmillenialists, mostly found among very conservative Presbyterians who follow the teachings of Rousas Rushdoony.

Dispensationalists tend to be inconsistent at times. The Christian Right of 30 years ago had dispensationalists such as Pat Robertson and Jerry Falwell as the most prominent leaders. However, dispensationalists tend to read Biblical events in news headlines. With the attack by Hamas on Israel and the emergence of an anti-Western alliance of China, Russia, and Iran, many prominent Baptist preachers like Dr. Jeffers in Dallas are seeing the Rapture as imminent. Why bother rearranging the deck chairs on the Titanic when the iceberg is approaching, they would say.

This calls to mind the following Scripture passage (see 2 Peter 3 for context):

[11] Since all these things are thus to be dissolved, what sort of persons ought you to be in lives of holiness and godliness, [12] waiting for and hastening the coming of the day of God, because of which the heavens will be kindled and dissolved, and the elements will melt with fire! [13] But according to his promise we wait for new heavens and a new earth in which righteousness dwells. [14] Therefore, beloved, since you wait for these, be zealous to be found by him without spot or blemish, and at peace."
