I know Irish and Irish Americans are tough, however The Bee's target here is not them.

That the Irish would remain sober and spring to the defense of women and children including demonstrating against an oppressive anti-Irish, anti-women-and-children Government, is a badge of strength, honor and civilized behavior for all Irish.

I had an acquaintance in Tennessee fresh over from Ireland. He and his teenage son were all the time telling me Irish drinking jokes.
