It was a Saturday of scares to end the 2023 college football regular season.
No. 2 Michigan held on to beat No. 3 Ohio State by six thanks to a late interception. No. 8 Alabama needed a miracle fourth-down conversion to avoid an upset by unranked Auburn. No. 4 Washington had to have a field goal as time expired to stay undefeated. No. 5 Florida State overcame a 12-0 deficit at Florida to move to 12-0.
Outside of No. 10 Louisville's loss to Kentucky, there weren't any surprising results at the top of the College Football Playoff rankings in Week 13. And that means the College Football Playoff picture is incredibly muddled with four undefeated teams and four teams with one loss at the top of the rankings. There's a lot to play for during conference championship weekend.

Auburn was stupid. Fries should get fired again
Regardless- he was constantly in man coverage with no one else around him the first half. And yet he was rarely targeted- completely foolish. And this has happened all season long. I was at the Maryland game when the Terps kept it close for 3 qtrs and the same exact thing occurred snap after snap- Harrison at the top of the field in one on one with no safety help and they never threw him the ball- until late in the third qtr when OSU finally pulled away.
And i would agree- the INT was as much the fault of Harrison as it was McCord- but to alter your game plan based on that single plays would be ignorant- then again it makes sense for Day to do such as thing.
As per Michigan’s defensive passing stats- big deal. When you open up against East Carolina, UNLV and Bowling Green, then play Rutgers who has NO passing attack you’re going to have skewed stats.
“Why did Auburn only rush 2”
indeed ...we were stunned auburn did’t blitz the krap out of alabama on that play ...
**..CJ Stroud..**
I don’t watch any football, unless I’m at my son’s house. He said that guy would have beat GA last year if his top receiver hadn’t been clobbered. He said bama lost a top receiver against GA the year before that.
They say it’s a game of inches. It’s also a game of injuries.
He got a better offer at Michigan State.
Best story: When the last game of the regular season ended (Hawaii vs Colorado State), it made James Madison U(11-1) bowl-eligible. Both teams ended up with a losing record. The Sun Belt will be sending 12 teams to bowls. Only 2 teams in the conference aren’t eligible.
The problem is CJ Stroud should’ve played every game near the level of the semi-final against UGA last year- but he didn’t.
Why? Because Day and the coaching staff handcuffed him rather then let Stroud loose- which is exactly what they did against UGA and he looked magnificent.
And that top receiver who was lost late in the UGA game? None other than Marvin Harrison Jr.- the guy i’ve been complaining about throughout this thread they did not target enough yesterday.
"Happy Days in Dixie" was a popular song in the late nineteenth century before it was waxed and released as a 78 rpm disc in the following century. During the 1890's, some fraternity brothers at UC Berkeley rewrote the words, turning it into a football song, and it was published in the school newspaper. The tune was eventually titled "Palms of Victory" (no relation to the gospel tune of the same name). The band started playing it at football games, but superstition began to follow the song due to several losses following its performance by the band at games.
It was decided to only play the tune after victories. However, superstition continues to follow it--playing "Happy Days in Dixie/Palms of Victory" before a game is believed to bring bad luck, as in 1992, when the band played it at an alumni event just before the team got trounced by Stanford 41-21.
The stats speak for themselves, regardless of your opinion.
There's a good reason why you're coaching from home and not on the field..........LOL!
And there’s a good reason why the coach from OSU has lost three in a row to Michigan and will be watching the CFP from his living room couch- LMFAO!!! Clown...
if cal only plays it after victories no one will hear it very much
What BS! Yes, the refs missed the face mask penalty on the early kick off return. BUT….Two Bama tds called back because of penalties. Auburn CBs grabbing Bama receivers all game. And…if you watch the full video of the winning TD pass you can clearly see the Auburn defender grabbing Isaac Bond as Bond makes his break to the corner of the end zone. Check how many penalties were called on Bama (8 for 72 yds) and Auburn (5 for 28 yds). You didn’t watch the game.
No. I didn’t see the whole game. Surprised by the number of calls on Bama.
Won’t address the beginning of your reply.
PSU ended the season w/ (by far) the #1 total defense in the ncaa (yardage/game) and still managed to rank #14 in scoring offense - while playing tOSU, UM, and Iowa.
They lost to OSU and UM by less than 10 pts. each this year.
If PSU wants to do better than 10-2, fire Franklin and hire Urban Meyer. Simple as that.
