Tucker’s response to his Mom dying?
“I went to dinner.”
Cold.
To all of unaware of the wonderful relationship, filled with deep affection between Tucker and his mother, my relationship with my real father is no different.
I saw his mother and father more times than I will ever see this person before he dies.
He has always lived within one hour of me for 60 years.
I saw my grandma and grandpa for birthdays and Christmas’.
Helped my grandma make Scottish cookies and bread.
Listened to my grandpa’s wild stories.
Introduced girlfriends to them.
I eventually traveled the world, met three living presidents(that’s funny), met men and women’s of industry, Seantors Congress People, have done and will do a lot of fun stuff no one will ever do.
Became a Master Mason, Worshipful Master of a lodge, Master of another
Oh and he is a Master Mason.
He was never there for my birthday or Christmas
I never heard from him the two times I thought it would be hilarious if I lived through a couple things that tried to kill me.
He didn’t teach me to
Fight and always fight a bully
Play chess and become chess champion in two ounties
Read a map
Catch rattlesnakes and scorpions
Didn’t teach me to play every board game, card game and a couple obscure games from around the world
The difference between Probabilities and possibilities.
He never met any of my girlfriends
He met one friend who he has known for over 30 years and really only had disparaging thi gs to say of me. I don’t recall a compliment but, I recall many inventions about my childhood. Oddly, none of it is true and he wasn’t around anyway.
My Dad, who adopted me, at the age of 7 along with my brother and sister had our birth name changed through that adoption and our birth certificate says “ammended” on line 18.

My Dad has always been Interested in me. So much so, that somehow he found out I was acting as Senior Deacon for a Double 2nd Degree and came specifically to watch. Oh, he lives in Chicago and I’m in California
My Dad admires my accomplishments and wants to hear more about my life.
He has known the same friend the other man knows, for about the same time and has always enjoyed her company and wants to know what other adventure I’m off to.
My Dad has asked to meet a number of girlfriends over the years. Maybe he’s jealous or horney(/s probably both LOL) but he is always interested in whatever...
I have spent my lifetime looking up to my Dad and like that little 5 year old I once was who tried to make as big a stride down the sidewalk as he did so gracefully (he is 6’ 2”) I still cannot keep his pace and somehow I still make him laugh.
I still look up to him.
My real father will die soon, which is anytime now, as he is in severe heart failure and not expected to live another six months.
I have no real life experiences with him, no real connection and therefore no deep emotion for him, in fact, very little.
His funeral will be 30 minutes from my home.
I may very well simply go to dinner.
I will be at my Dad’s funeral and ask if I can officiate the Masonic section of his memorial
