At the border crossing point between Estonia and Russia in the Estonian city of Narva on Friday, preparations continued for the possible closure of the border - additional barriers were installed on the bridge.

The first concrete pyramids on the bridge in Narva appeared on the evening of November 16, after 19 citizens of Somalia and Syria arrived on the eastern border of Estonia, trying to enter the country without legal grounds.
The day before, the police and border guard of Ida-Virumaa, which includes Narva, said they were preparing for the possible closure of the border crossing.
“We are closely monitoring what is happening at the border, because Russia is exerting migration pressure on Estonia and Finland, sending people to our border who do not have the right to enter the European Union. Since last week, several large groups have been trying to get to Estonia,” they added.
The barriers are also being prepared due to the fact that from February 1, the Russian checkpoint “Ivangorod” on the border with Estonia will be closed for reconstruction.
