Incorrect. Some know full well where the money went, while most don't. Corruption and ineptitude are having a party on the world's largest credit card, and will continue to stick the nation with the bill until a true political rebellion, fiscal collapse, or both will force re-calibration.

I think you may be giving someone a little more credit than they deserve. Our government is made up of financial committments that many are never heard about. No one person, let alone a group, knows where all the shortfall has gone. They can find some of it but can’t release any information to the public so they can keep their jobs. And even the top of each catagory people is hamstrung as the funds may or may not have been used for a legal purpose so they would be possibly indicted on treason charges.
The only consistent purpose of the federal government is determine where the money is going on paper, not actually in reality. And the DOD is just another piece of that machine. And when they do leak out, some get nailed but you won’t hear about that as it would indicate others.
Besides, the IRS hasn’t been able to balance their books or even audit what they’ve done for years. They do the same thing as they are a federal government instumentility and are throwing money and hiding slush funds all the time. Do you expect the IRS to tell you the truth? Besides, it is possible that someone has invested the non-existant money and has already made up the shortfall but can’t produce it until they can hide where it came from and the money in the Swiss bank. We may be rich and not know it. (And never will)
