I think they planned to do that and changed their minds for some reason. Why bring passports if crossing the border was never contemplated?

THe entire story is nutty,terrorists dont usually drive bentleys,but they normally wait in line for their turn unless they have something to hide. what did authorities find in thier ids while waiting in line that made them get out of line go 100 mphh and crash a 300k car.Like I said the story is nutty and makes no sense.
