Many people offered to put me up for the night and take me along to their Thanksgiving dinners. One offered me her house for as long as I needed it since she’ll be out of town. I know such nice people!
I made it back home after only a four hour delay. I learned that the Thousand Islands Bridge was open and I was on the road heading there (3.5 hours northeast and 3.5 hours back) when I learned the Peace Bridge was open again. Reports now are that it may have been a suicide. The driver of the vehicle is said to have been driving at a very high speed (100 ?ph) and crashed into a cement barrier just before the Rainbow Bridge on the US side. I’m relieved I didn’t have to drive 7 hours to make the 10 minute trip home from Buffalo.
Now the reports are that a married couple occupied the vehicle and they were going to a concert in Toronto. The driver may have suffered a medical emergency. There are no survivors.
