It’s interesting how times and attitudes are changing. In my late parents’ day and my and my husband’s day, we commuted to our jobs, and we were glad to have jobs. It’s what you did. After putting in the time, we could retire with comfortable pensions.

Not sure I get the joke. You have to buy a house BEFORE you retire, which, of course, we did, and both our parents did, and we have income from renting out those houses.
