The "OPV/AIDS" theory was highlighted in the 1999 book 'The River' by Edward Hooper. Africans were given Oral Polio Vaccines (OPV) in the late 50s and early 60s. Hooper says witnesses have told him that batches of those vaccines were "grown" in chimp cells at a lab in the Congo and that the chimp cells, and thus the vaccines, could have contained SIVs that jumped into humans.

Hooper wrote, "There are highly significant correlations between the places where this vaccine was administered and the places where AIDS first appeared on the planet."

After seeing Simian Virus 40 (SV40) show up in batches of the COVID-19⁸⁴ shots and government bureaucrats lying through their teeth to deny developing banned gain-of-function bio-weapons, I would fully expect a modified virus that appeared out nowhere to have originated in lab funded by governments.

It was not cooked up in a lab. IIRC, the earliest known case presented in the early 1950s.

There is a theory — and some uncomfortable facts — that suggest that the major wave of HIV that launched the pandemic was transmitted to humans in Africa due to an impure smallpox vaccine. Due to sloppy procedure in a locally produced version, the vaccine was contaminated with SIV from chimpanzee cells used to produce it.
