I remember when HIV it was first announced back in the day. It was exposure to monkeys and Haitian blood. The first person to have it was identified as an Airplane flight attendant.

Gaetan Dugas, a Canadian FA. Not true, as it turns out.

HIV virus was recovered from a frozen lymph node biopsy obtained in St. Louis in 1969, antibodies were found in saved serum from a merchant seaman from Manchester UK collected in 1959, and recent molecular epidemiology points to the presence of HIV in Kinshasa (then Leopoldville, Belgian Congo) in 1929.
