😄 The trick in more modern times was getting the sugar; the feds would track sugar sales. When I was on Cagle Mountain - back in the '80s - old Luther still operated a still down in the 'hollow' below me. He would stop occasionally on his way out and talk. I never mentioned his 'business' for a long time. I was suffering from a persistent viral infection one time in my respiratory and I asked him if it might be possible to get a 'sample' of his 'squeezings'. He mumbled that he didn't know what I was talking about and I immediately changed the subject. A few days later his brother stopped by and said that 'someone' had told him to give a pint jar of 'something' to me.
It went down like water but it didn't stay that way! 🤣 You could have run your car on that 'shine'! Good 'copper'! {clean} That ended the virus. 😇
Thanks! A collection of stories like yours would make a good book! :)
