Assuming you suffer from BPH and not prostate cancer - like most “older” men, of which I am one - a doctor I highly respect recommends prostate artery embolization. Do an internet search, and you should be able to get a good understanding of it.

That approach seems the only way to shrink the prostate, from all sides, rather than open the tract up, or have surgery.

I believe it is outpatient “surgery,” but just entails X-rays and an injection of, I think, plastic spheres.

The prostate should shrink from having the total blood supply reduced, as I understand, down by 1/3, or so.
