If I ever own an electric car it will be because the battery range is down under 200 miles and it is worthless to the original owner. But to me who only uses a vehicle to run to the store etc., it will be fine charging it off solar panels which will make it low cost to operate. The gas vehicle will remain lower mileage and it will only be used for long range tasks.
That sounds like a decent plan!
