“Coffee has ~95mg of caffeine in 8 ozs”

You are absolutely right. And diabetics react to caffeine differently all the time. This is why I’ve gone to diet seven up because it’s caffeine-free, low in sodium, and delivers great-tasting lemon lime flavor with zero sugar.

The only thing in the drink that could be in question is The artificial sweetener aspartame (Equal, NutraSweet) which has phenylalanine but it is added to many medicines, diet foods and diet sodas. WEB/MD.

Phenylalanine is an amino acid, a building block of protein. Most people don’t need to worry about it. But it is an issue for people who have a genetic condition called phenylketonuria (PKU). Genetic conditions are passed through families.

In people with PKU, phenylalanine can cause intellectual disability, brain damage, seizures, and skin and other problems. Intellectual disability is slow learning and skill building.

Surprisingly enough, phenylalanine is in many protein-rich foods, such as milk, eggs and meat. Phenylalanine also is sold as a dietary supplement.

So it’s still an up-in-the-air product I guess but the signs of it happen in early life and can be treated. I’m too old to worry about that.
