When I was in college I knew the leftists were whackjobs. I hope todays students can recognize that.
Later the college went full woke begging POC's to help them with their "Whiteness Problem".
Now the college and the community are a dangerous joke.
On April 1, 1972, I received my letter that I was awarded a 4 year Army ROTC scholarship. It paid for all academic expenses at the college of my choice, so long as it had Army ROTC. IMO, it was by far the most valuable scholarship of my 500+ graduating class.
A couple of days later, word got out, and the last two months of HS was miserable. I was basically a pariah, the harassment was all verbal, down to being called "babykiller".
I recall teachers saying to my face how "disappointed" they were with my decision. It was so ludicrous I laughed in their faces.
I never returned, shaking the dust off my boots after graduation. I've harbored a few thoughts of attending a reunion, but those passed quickly. I had no desire to travel 1500 miles for a 4-5 hour event that would likely have been an FU session. It wasn't just the scholarship, it was being stationed in Germany for 4 years, and the experiences I enjoyed there.
In contrast, I'd love to make the next reunion for my college class. I've stayed in touch with probably two dozen friends since graduating in 1976.
