When I was in public grade school, one had to pay 2 cents for white milk, and 3 cents for chocolate milk.
Weird that there is a shortage of packaging now.

You know what they should do? They should put a picture of a missing milk carton...on a milk carton...

60 years ago, it wasn’t in single serve containers. It was dispensed into heavy duty re-usable plastic glasses. But that was before the green revolution.

Those tiny milk cartons have to be among the most wasteful packaging around.
How about pouring it out of stainless steel jugs into individual cups or glasses?
To: DallasBiff
What nitwit couldn’t foresee the demand for these after millions of illegals cross the border with families that actually value having large numbers of children?

Half of these unopened cartons are returned unused and are prohibited from being distributed to charities.

Lots of people on this thread recalling how tough it was when they were young.
They’re all just crying over spilled milk.

“2 cents for white milk”
Me, too. But we were deprived — there was NO chocolate milk. You got white milk and liked it.
No soda machines, no vending machines — nothing but school work, classrooms, cafeteria and a gymnasium. Times were tough. But we learned and didn’t whine.

When my dad was a boy he rode on the running board of the milk truck
and hopped off carrying glass milk bottles to the steps of customer's houses.
Then run back to the truck.
That was just a 'few' years ago - my dad would be 98 now.

When I was in school we had 1/3 pint glass bottles and waxed paper straws.
On an aside comment...Starbucks sells stainless steel straws.
Could do some serious damage in a street fight.

China has had to halt the production of milk cartons because they’re running short on melamine. It’s an integral part of the waterproof coating on the inside of the carton.
