Or maybe the owners of the damaged house should be allowed to visit each child's home and do similar damages to those houses.....

This is why it's important to have a good security system, one you can check on your phone, and keep an eye on your neighbor's property when they're away.
I have a someone come by to feed my cats and check on my property once a day when I'm traveling - worth every penny.

Luckily they’re children as that means they won’t be punished.
Unfortunately, the sweet little angels’ homes are probably already in the same state. The angels must have learned this level of mentality well from their parents. Obvious the parents couldn’t be bothered to know where they were and what they were doing. How many are siblings? What other crimes have they done? How did the neighbors not know and why weren’t there cameras at an obviously expensive vacation home?
Of course, they only got a stern warning. Nothing will be learned so they continue their behaviors and will ramp them up. British laws are far too lenient. Should have kept some of their old punishments.

I wondered the same thing. Hard to believe they were gone a month and had no checking on the house while they were gone. Then again, who would have thought that this could happen.

As usual, the media conceals all info re: the perpetrators. It’s non-urban England, so the kids may well have been white . . . white trash. Lower-class whites in England are almost indistinguishable from lower-class blacks here in the U.S.
And what they are being fined sounds nowhere near the amount of damage they did. Not that they will ever pay it.
One of the offenders comes from a “sprawling estate” while another comes from a home with beer cans littering the yard.
Two offenders are girls.
Doesn’t appear that a single one of them apologized or is the least bit regretful about what they did and it seems this is a place where the village raises the children so the parents don’t have to.
The father of one says it is going to be difficult to raise the 1500 pounds (my father would have taken it and more out of my hide and made me go clean up the mess and do other work.) This guy who works at a grocery store sort of shrugs and says he supposes they will “take it out of my benefits” while stating his kid has not apologized but doesn’t seem interested in punishing his kid at all, or else cannot say so because only the “community” can set the punishment.
Well, sounds like the gang was at least “diverse” ...must have brought out the best in them.
Just reading this makes me think the British have run out of testosterone.
