My wife and I waited. (It may have helped that we were late bloomers. We both looked younger than our ages until about 19). She was 21 and a half, I had just turned 24. We had known each almost 11 months by wedding night. We had close calls with previous steady interests, but managed to let self respect overrule our hormones.
We learned together. A truly soul-bonding experience. No previous ‘adventures’ to compare with. No stds. And 45 years later she still has me in a trance at times.
