Rep. Markwayne Mullin is facing backlash for telling constituents during an Oklahoma town hall Tuesday that the idea they pay his salary is “bullcrap.”
The Oklahoma Republican told the crowd in Jay that he “paid enough taxes” as the owner of multiple businesses in order to pay his own salary.
“You said you pay for me to do this. Bullcrap. I pay for myself. I paid enough taxes before I got there and continue to through my company to pay my own salary. This is a service. No one here pays me to go,” Mr. Mullin said in a video of the exchange. “I do it as an honor and a service.”

1. Iran did kill all those Israelis. Hamas would not have made a move without their consent, especially not a move of that magnitude. And I doubt very much that Iran would have consented without Russia and China having their back.
2. Any attack on Iran would most definitely NOT be “unprovoked.” Iran has been provoking us for decades now and our politicians have been doing their utmost to obscure that fact.

They don’t need to “declare” a war they have been engaging in since the Islamic Revolution. In fact, it is in their interest to just keep using terrorism because no matter how many people they kill or how many places they blow up or ships they damage or hostages they take, there is a seemingly unlimited supply of people willing to not only bend over and take it, but cheer them on, so long as they can keep everyone pretending there is no war so long as the combatants on one side are wearing civilian clothes.
Most Westerners, and FReepers in particular, have little to no understanding of the Arab mindset or values. Not saying they’re bigots or ignorant. They just don’t know because they live within a civilized culture and nation and project their own biases upon the rest of the world because that’s all they know.
They do not understand history or dynamic borders where backing away from an aggressor is not only an admission of weakness but an admission of being in the wrong. It incites more frequent and fervent attacks. The attacker not only believes in his strength but in his right to attack and the defenders indefensible position.
This is nothing new. Anyone who’s studied American Colonial history recognizes the Israeli-Arab conflict from early settlers’ dealings with native Americans. Walls were imperative and any sign of weakness invited attack as in “if you cannot defend your territory and towns we will take them from you as you have no right to them.”
This has been the way of the world from the dawn of time until all but the last few decades.
