“Granted, you’re supposed to stay on the horse and the horse is supposed to stay off of you!”

Got a couple living in my back yard. The first rule of riding is keeping the horse between you and the ground but some horses haven’t learned that rule!

I was a competition jumper and Dressage rider. Used to do Devon every season. I can't fathom why my parents encouraged my interest in horses from a young age. By the time I was 18 I had spent a cumulative 8 months in the hospital. By the time I was 40 I stopped counting.

My grandfather was a farrier and farm hand for a very wealthy family with 2,500 acre farm and estate. He lived in a farm-hand house provided by the family. Even after he retired they made that available for him and his wife. All that they had to pay was a phone bill.
