Interesting you brought up "Pappy" Boyington's dog! The Black Sheep Squadron visited the "Pappy" Boyington Field in Coeur d'Alene last June in five of their F-35B fighter jets.
There's a great statue of Boyington and a plaque honoring him at the airport. He was quite the man...
